What we did: With amazing plans for her cottage in Dungeness our client was struggling with transferring her ideas into reality and sourcing a reputable builder to undertake the works.

INVVU undertook a measured building survey of Lloyds Cottage, then drew the existing layouts and got to work collaboratively with our client: sketching ideas, discussing budgets, changing layouts, suggesting energy efficiency options, until we had transferred her dreams to paper.

INVVU then prepared a tender pack, and using local connections and experience invited Tenders to bid for the works. This gave our client peace of mind when instructing a builder as everything was itemised, so costs were transparent from the outset.

Addison Construction Civils and Building won the contract and were awarded the works by Claire, INVVU stayed in the background throughout to be there when Claire or Addison needed any help or advice.

The project/build was completed to a high standard of finish, and to the delight of our client who now has a home which offers, stunning panoramic views of Dungeness’s unique landscape, new carefully sourced cedar cladding, and a bespoke kitchen built from the original exterior wood cladding. New insulation, windows, cladding have made the cottage feel warm and cosy again.

The transformation from a tired, draughty, costal cottage to what is now a stunning piece of architecture, bringing this 300-year-old cottage into the 21st century, and will slowly settle into its beautiful surroundings over the years as the cladding weathers and ages.

Almost all of the materials, labour, plant, were all locally sourced in Kent.
