Project outline:
Instructed to undertake ground investigations and drainage design for the management of roofs and the paved surface water of proposed single story industrial building. Provided Project Management services through to completion of build.

Our approach was based on key principles of good SuDS design; to reference the CIRIA SuDS Manual C753.

The following works were undertaken to help and determine the best application of drainage system.

  • A desk study, which identified the need for a field study.
  • Site walkover survey to determine site conditions, catchment area and contributing area.
  • Infiltration testing for soakaway to determine the percolation rate.
  • Topographical surveying.
  • Connectivity survey to confirm the new foul sewer connection location.
  • Sample tests and borehole tests to achieve the properties of the underlying soils.
  • Flood risk analysis using EA flood maps, historical data and existing asset data.
  • Hydraulic analysis using MicroDrainage Windes to determine the soakaway size.
  • S106 application for the connection of new foul water connect into the public sewers.

Key outcomes of the final drainage design provided the Client with the most feasible and cost effective design solutions for adapting the Soakaway system to control the surface water within the site and recharge the ground water table without polluting the ground water.

Our role throughout the project also included:
